Change your gas and vacuum hoses if you haven't already, the factory pieces are rather chintzy. Make sure the center screw in the petcock lever is tight, if not, gas can seep or pour past the internal diaphragm. (My bike's vacuum unit has the screw, so I assume other ones do to) If all that is good, rebuild the petcock. A Honda Rebel 450 vacuum petcock diaphragm is the same size, and can be purchased at any Honda shop with a good parts counter. It is damned pricey, but better quality, and you get the satisfaction of snubbing the Suzuki shop the way most treat Savage owners.
